As Owner & CFO of Empathy Cruises, Jason Hall has utilized his varied skills to become an expert in scholarships, and other funding options in order to make all available for those worldwide seeking to sponsor, and donate to empower disabled persons to enjoy accessible vacations. He has lived with his own chronic pain for 23 years; while providing support to his wife & his Mom with their disabilities, pain & illness for 21 years. Jason & Liz are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in 2018.
Kathy, Liz, Jason, and all Empathy Cruise staff members share their varied wellness techniques that empowered them to overcome many daily symptoms without the need for medications. Each cruise has unique topics, however there are no microphones or stages. All voices are equal in the round table style, family discussions which are optional numerous times throughout each cruise. We want our guests to come ready to learn from us, and we hope you will want to share your wealth of knowledge, too. We offer elite personalized service from start to finish. We have considered every detail, and will help to enable the vacation, family reunion, group gathering, business convention, or destination wedding of a lifetime. Stress free, luxurious, and accessible cruising for all abilities, medical conditions, and neurological conditions. When you cruise with us, a portion of our proceeds from every cruise, every elite option, and every shop item purchased goes towards making dreams come true for those who can’t afford our cruises. Our nominations are coming in daily, and we are offering free or reduced prices on cruises, airfare, shop items, and elite options as funds become available through your purchases, and generous donations.
Kathryn M. Speer Smith Shoaf, RN BSN ATP, is the Owner and CEO of Elite Cruises and Vacations, LLC. She is the Co-Founder and Cruise Director for Empathy Cruises. Kathy’s core belief in enjoying life is founded in her ownership of the Cruise Planners/American Express Travel franchise. American Express provides many unique options, opportunities, and financial advantages when booking travel. Kathy Shoaf is a travel expert with 10 years of experience, and 20+ years of clinical and management experience in geriatric, neurology, rehabilitation, home health, and senior housing as a regional director/RN and Adaptive Technology Professional. She realized after years of counseling with clients and families, that the quest to enjoy life “should never have to stop”. Her ability to help others overcome fear and anxiety about travel makes “bucket list” dreams come true one vacation at a time. She manages numerous cruise and travel groups with similar neurological diagnoses, multi-generational families, and educational forums for CME/CEUs/CEs for healthcare professionals. She has been chosen to speak on “Accessible Travel Options” at NYU Psychology/Neuro, IU Health, Abilities Expo, and American Senior to name a few. She is uniquely qualified to understand travel challenges, and create rational solutions on the fly. Kathy is a new Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Trustees. She and Liz are looking forward to working directly with ACHT President, Dr. David Levien, on his new global hotel accessibility project.
Liz Hall is the Founder of Pain Sufferers Speak’s FREE global online community with 10 support groups, 4 blogs, and availability all over the web. She is the Co-Founder, website and logo designer, and itinerary coordinator for Empathy Cruises. Her 18 years in healthcare with 7 of those years invested in daily online support and mediation for Pain Sufferers Speak; plus 9 years as a nationally certified paralegal, with specialties in bankruptcy and social security, combine to allow public speaking to be a natural next step. Liz has been a Fellow at ACHT since August 2017, and she is excited to be speaking about “Facilitated User Networks” at the ACHT Asilomar Innovation Conference from November 7th to 10th in 2018. She is known as the “voice of empathy” for her global community, and to the world due to her numerous guest appearances on web-based radio shows, teleconferences, tweetups, and podcasts. At age 24, Liz faced the possibility of living life from a wheelchair due to the sudden loss of the use of her right leg. Turned out to be 5 hours of surgery with an inch of scar per hour. An emergency laminectomy on L5/S1 was completed within 72 hours of the initial ruptured disk diagnosis. Somehow a piece of that disk wrapped around her sciatic nerve a total of 3 times. She is no stranger to chronic illness after 43 years with multiple diagnoses. You would never know any of this unless she chooses to tell you. “I felt so thankful to not need a wheelchair that the athlete in me who had thrived with the no pain, no gain attitude, over time, and with learned balance, and acceptance, turned into the woman wearing an attitude of gratitude each and every day.”
